From first consultation to launch day and beyond
Every restoration at Restoincip follows a structured process developed over 38 years of work on Newport Harbor. We believe transparency, thorough documentation, and regular owner communication are as important as the craftsmanship itself.
We begin with a conversation about your vessel, your goals, and your timeline. Whether you envision a full restoration or targeted repairs, we listen carefully and provide honest guidance on scope and feasibility. Consultations can take place at our yard, aboard your boat, or by phone for out-of-state owners.
Our senior shipwright conducts a comprehensive survey covering hull structure, deck condition, brightwork, systems, and rigging. We photograph every area of concern and produce a written report with recommended work items prioritised by urgency and budget. This document becomes the foundation of your restoration plan.
Based on the survey, we prepare a detailed scope of work with line-item pricing and a projected timeline. For large projects, we break work into phases so you can spread investment over multiple seasons. All estimates are provided in writing with clear terms and conditions.
Your boat is hauled on our Travelift and moved into one of our three covered sheds. We protect surrounding areas, establish access for owners who wish to visit, and begin work according to the approved schedule. Weekly progress reports include photographs and updated timeline projections.
Each phase of work is inspected by a senior craftsman before proceeding to the next. Structural repairs are checked against original drawings where available. Varnish and paint receive multiple inspection points between coats. We welcome owner walk-throughs at any milestone.
Before launch, we conduct sea trials to verify engine performance, steering, and systems operation. Rigging is tuned and all safety equipment is verified. You receive a complete documentation package including material specifications, maintenance recommendations, and warranty details.
Restoration is not a one-time event. We offer seasonal maintenance programmes including spring commissioning, fall lay-up, varnish touch-ups, and bottom painting. Many of our restoration clients return year after year for care that keeps their boats in show condition.
